Nominations for Advisory Committee for Appointment of the Chair of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning

Professor Clare Brett will be completing her term as Chair of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, following a five-year term and one-year extension, on June 30, 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Professor Brett for her exemplary service as Chair, which included leading the department through community building and EDI initiatives, several successful cycles of faculty renewal, academic planning and quality assurance processes, and adaptation to the challenges of the pandemic.

We are now initiating the process that will lead to the appointment of a Chair for a term that will begin on July 1, 2022. In accordance with Section 12 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, I am calling for nominations of individuals to serve on the advisory committee for the appointment of a Chair. The committee membership normally includes:

  • The Dean as chair of the committee;
  • Three to five members of the teaching staff of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning
  • The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies or representative;
  • One or two members of cognate departments;
  • One or two students;
  • An Associate Dean;
  • A member of the administrative staff.

Nominations for the committee should be sent by November 10, 2021 to dean.oise@utoronto.ca. If nominating someone other than yourself, please ensure that the person has agreed to be considered.

We will announce the membership of the advisory committee in November and the committee will begin its work soon after.
