Biography

Dr. Mendes has been an Assistant Professor at 91±¬ÁÏ in both the Higher Education and the Educational Leadership and Policy Programs since July 2024. She has taught and lectured for almost 2 decades in Brazilian higher education and community-led informal educational experiences. Her research examines obstacles faced by Black and Indigenous students, mother-students, and lower socioeconomic status students to access and persist in higher education. Dr. Mendes's experience is in qualitative research, especially critical discourse analysis and participatory research.
