Eco-Art: Teach for the Earth, Teach for the Future

This clay tile installation was created in 2013 by over a hundred 91±¬ÁÏ B.Ed students to emphasize the importance of nature-based learning in school and community settings. Influenced by the writings of Richard Louv, students learned about the importance of reconnecting children and adults with nature, which many consider to be the most powerful environment for teaching and learning. Inspired by the work of environmental artists such as Andy Goldsworthy and Patrick Dougherty, the 91±¬ÁÏ students drew, incised and sculpted their impressions and memories of nature-based learning into clay tiles, which were fired and coloured with natural oxide pigments.

Lead Artists:  91±¬ÁÏ B.Ed students/artists Aidan Hammond, Nikolas Katsiou and Wynette Tavares; Hilary Inwood, Teacher Educator, 91±¬ÁÏ, University of Toronto
